Kaleidoscope is an innovative program that links professional artists with teachers and students in Muskoka. Using the nationally acclaimed ArtsSmarts model, our teacher - artist teams use the arts to increase student engagement in their learning.
We are looking forward to some great projects in Muskoka schools during the 2011 - 2012 school year. We also have some exciting things in the works for our 2012 Kaleidoscope Summer Camps!
Check out the video below to get an idea of some of our recent projects and what the participants have to say about them.
2010 - 2011 Highlights:
Between February and June 2011 we did 4 major in-school projects: a songwriting project at the Haliburton Adult Education & Training Centre, a mural project at the Huntsville Adult Education & Training Centre, a photography/pottery/video project at Gravenhurst Public School, and a music/theatre project at Watt Public School. Follow the links to check out photos, videos and summaries of each project.
On June 25th & 26th, 2011 we held the 13th annual Kaleidoscope Children's Festival. With over a dozen artists offering hands-on activities, buskers, face painters, musicians, and even a mechanical cow that you could milk, this was our best Festival yet! The 2012 Children's Festival takes place on June 30th & July 1st, so mark your calendars now!
Our Kaleidoscope Summer Camp was bigger than ever this year, with four weeks of programming offered. Check out the highlights of our 2011 camp sessions here.
Kaleidoscope is the primary mission and initiative of the Muskoka Lakes Music Festival, and is the official ArtsSmarts Partner for the Muskoka region.
