Kaleidoscope Children's Festival

2011 marked the 13th year of the Kaleidoscope Children's Festival. A two-day celebration, the children's festival featured workshops with professional artists, clowns and buskers, face painting, free lunch, and performances by youth and professional artists. This year's Festival took place on Saturday, June 25th and Sunday, June 26th under the Big Top at Wallace Bay, Red Leaves, Minett.

Check out some highlights of the event:

Saturday's festivities started at 10:00 a.m.. The day featured buskers, performances and hands on arts workshops, including Stone Carving with Elise Muller, Clay Sculpture with Tara Gilchrist, Drumming with Bazza, Wire Jewelry Making with Erin Lynch, Mural Painting with Caroline Butson, Card Making with Susan Hindle (DAREarts Kids for Peace), and our annual Banner Making workshop with Lisa McGill.

The Dairy Farmers of Canada Farm to Table Experience brought Moonica, their amazing mechanical cow. Everyone got to try their hand at milking her, and learn where their milk comes from!

And of course there was a fantastic free pizza lunch at noon!

Sunday's events began at 11:00 a.m., with more hands-on workshops (Clay Sculpture, Banner Making, and Printmaking with Krysia Bower). Muskoka's renowned children's entertainers Jam Sandwich took the stage for a high-energy, interactive performance.

We're looking forward to our 14th year of the Kaleidoscope Children's Festival with even more exciting activities to come!
